Chris and I finally bought our own fencing gear (bag, helmet, jacket, glove, & pistol-grip foil) yesterday, and today was the first time we got to use them. I admit I pretty much forgot everything over summer - footwork and terms, but being able to just jump back in and spar really brought me back to the point of why I love fencing.
It’s intensely fast pace with bursts of movements! Before fencing I felt a void in my life because I don’t even remember the last sport I had taken. I missed having that raw physical activity in combination with pure competitive spirit. As much as it makes me really nervous, and even scares at some points, it just drives me more.
And so now I am in a fencing frenzy - watching youtube videos, searching fencing tags on tumblr, reading up on it on wikipedia, which brought me to this picture which I thought was really funny :D Well there’s my 2 cents worth, don’t be too surprised to see more fencing posts from me ^_^.
