If you haven’t seen it, I would highly recommend it!
The full title of this anime is “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann” but Gurren Lagann for short. And it was created by Gainax, the studio that is also known for such works as in Neon Genesis Evangelion and FLCL (which is my personal #1 favorite!).
Visually this anime is stunning! The artwork, animation, character designs, mech designs, even backgrounds are colorful and amazing! As for story it has it all - action, comedy, suspense, drama, love, and more! As you watch you’ll learn and grow with the characters, which in turn really envelopes you in the anime. And don’t get me started on the actions parts with the mechs; all I have to say they is that they take it to a whole new level - an ASTRONOMICAL LEVEL! You’ll know what I’m talking about after you watch ;)
I hope that I was able to give you a little taste of what Gurren Lagann is all about because it is definitely worth investing your time to watch. And if you don’t believe me still I’ve listed some of the awards this series won.
Awards:
- Won the Excellence Prize at the 2007 Japan Media Arts Festival
- Hiroyuki Imaish, the director, won “Personal Best” at the 12th Animation Kobe Festival
- At the 2008 7th Annual Tokyo Anime Awards won “Best Television Production”
- Also, at the 2008 7th Annual Tokyo Anime Awards the character designer, Atsushi Nishigori, won “Best Character Design”
SO… Go out and watch TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN!!!
Just recently finished this anime - one of my favorites of the year.

Katanagatari (2010)
Katanagatari is 2010 japanese anime based on a light novel series written by Nisio Isin the story takes place during the Edo era in Japan and follows the genius strategist Togame and her “blade” Yasuri Shichika the seventh head of the Kyotou school of Japanese sword martial arts. They are on a journey to collect the 12 legendary deviant blades created by the even more legendary sword-smith Shikizaki Kiki.
The anime series is almost complete as 11 of the 12 one hour episodes have now been released.
The series genre is categorized as a chanbara meaning a it is a samurai period piece that is more dramatic rather than action-based. This is completely true, the story is very character driven with a little bit of action thrown in at the end. The development and interaction be between the two main characters is classic. The tone is mainly lighthearted but has some serious undertones. There is a wealth of cute moments to make you laugh and some serious moments that make you step back for a second. Overall an amazing anime that has kept me watching and waiting.
The Final episode will air on 12/10/2010 and will be subbed soon after (usually 5-8 days after) by Mazui fansubs found here: http://mazuisubs.com/
Enjoy and Cheerio!!

Shinryaku! Ika Musume is probably my favorite cute/funny/quirky anime currently.
Story wise is a little bit out there, but the characters are funny and lovable, which makes watching this anime very lighthearted and enjoyable. And there’s a lot of funny moments. Each episode if fairly short, so they’re almost like mini-episodes; keeps things new and interesting.
If you want to watch something that’s purely fun, cheerful, and just an all around feel good kind of show, I would highly recommend Shinryaku! Ika Musume :)
Personification of the Chrysalis in an anime style. This my favorite one of the three. Just looks so bad ass >:D
Personification of the Pupa (from MGS Peace Walker) in an anime style. Very well drawn and colored too!
